🌱 Baltimore County Council Seats + Kidnapping Hoax + Animal Adoption

Hello friends. It’s me, Rose Mendez, your Catonsville Daily host – back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what’s happening in town these days.

First, today’s weather forecast:

Quite sunny. High: 90 Low: 73.

Here are the top three stories in Catonsville today:

  1. There is a push to add four more seats and districts to Baltimore County Council by the next ballot in 2026. Proponents of the increase want fairer representation. Linda Dorsey-Walker said: “What we try to do is make everyone feel like they have the same
access to their county councilor by reducing the size of the districts.” A Catonsville representative, Councilor Tom Quirk of D-District 1, said he “wouldn’t object to adding two more members to the county council. given the increase in population.” (WBAL TV Baltimore)
  2. A July 12 warning was circulating on social media claiming that a woman posing as a nurse had kidnapped a baby from a Catonsville hospital. and other cities. Facebook flagged the Catonsville post as part of its efforts to combat fake news and misinformation on its News Feed. The Baltimore County Police Department did not immediately respond to the Catonsville post, however, it appears the warnings were hoaxes. The Dodge City Police Department responded to a similar message about Dodge City and said it was not credible. (political fact)
