Adoption of animals on site at PetFest this Saturday in the canton of Grand Blanc

GRAND BLANC TWP, MI – PetFest 2022 will be held on Saturday, August 6 on the grounds of Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township.

There will be 13 animal welfare groups on site conducting meet and greets and adoptions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the hospital grounds, 1 Genesys Parkway.

Groups include Genesee County Animal Control, Shelter Animal Donations, Purrsuit of Happyness, Paws Animal Rescue, Great Lakes Dog Rescue, Citizens for Animal Rescue and Emergencies, Canine Companions Rescue Center, K-9 Stray Rescue League, Pawsitive Cause Rescue, Friends dedicated Animal Society, All About Animals, Simply Girl Doggie Haven and Last Chance Rescue.

PetFest returns after a two-year hiatus due to COVID. Over 100 pets found new homes at the last PetFest held in 2019.

PetFest coordinator Linda Garland-Molpus says there will be giveaways, three live radio shows and goody bags that will hopefully generate enough excitement to get people out and breaking records. .

“I just want to get people out. We are hoping for a lot of adoptions because rescues and shelters are just overwhelmed,” Garland-Molpus said. “I hope PetFest helps all the groups out there get animals and get them good homes.”

With over 13 sponsors, PetFest is free to the public with free parking at the Pollock Road entrance.

Even though people aren’t interested in adopting, Garland-Molpus said she wants people to see what PetFest is all about. Monetary and food donations are additional ways to support animals.

“A lot of these animals come from bad situations where they were rescued from the streets. So just to see them go to good homes, it’s worth it,” she said.
