The new Pet Adoption Center will primarily be a space for potential adopters to meet dogs.

Cincinnati Animal CARE now has more room to get its pets out of the shelter and into happy forever homes.

The Hamilton County Animal Shelter and Welfare Agency has announced the opening of a pet adoption center at 3262 Highland Ave. in Columbia Township (near Lowe’s near Pleasant Ridge).

Animals will not be housed here, but it will serve as a satellite stop for potential new pet parents to visit four-legged friends who live in foster homes. It will primarily be a space to meet and greet the dogs, said Ray Anderson, community engagement manager for Cincinnati Animal CARE. CityBeatbut they’re also “exploring options for integrating cats into the space.”

“It’s not as critical a need right now with quickly adopted kittens and our partnership with Purrfect Day Cafe,” he says.

Anderson says hundreds of Cincinnati Animal CARE pets are in foster care at any one time, and the addition of the new center provides new opportunities for potential adopters to meet the dogs.

“It’s also a much more low-key environment than a crowded shelter – we’re already seeing much more relaxed dogs meeting adopters,” he says.

The Pet Adoption Center will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays through August, while Cincinnati Animal CARE is planning an official grand opening — with expanded hours — on weekends. end of Labor Day.

You can also visit the main shelter at 3949 Colerain Ave. at Northside from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily if you are interested in adopting.

“Everything at Cincinnati Animal CARE in Northside remains the same, but we’re excited to make new friends in a different part of town,” Anderson said.
