‘Love a Pet’ Adoption Event Finds New Homes for Over 70 Cats

HERMANTOWN, MN – Subaru’s annual ‘Love a Pet’ adoption event has returned to the Miller Hill Subaru after being canceled last year due to COVID.

This year the event was split into two separate days, starting with Caturday, where only cats were offered for adoption on Saturdays. Sunday will be Pupday, where only dogs will be available for adoption.

About 90 cats from four different shelters in Northland were available. Participating shelters were Animal Allies Humane Society, The Babinski Foundation Animal Shelter, Lake County Humane Society, and Chequamegon Humane Association.

The event also had local pet vendors and an opportunity for the animals to have their photos taken with Santa Claus.

Event organizers said it’s always nice to see animals find loving homes.

“If you are a first-time pet owner, or have some experience and are just looking to add a new family member, this is a great event,” said Nicole Facciato , head of cruelty-free education at Animal Allies. “There are so many animals out there looking for loving homes, and adopted animals are always so grateful and loving. It’s almost as if they know you have chosen them and that you are giving them a home.

Organizers said 73 cats were adopted on Saturday. Sunday dog adoption runs from 10 to 2 at the Subaru Miller Hill.
