A popular restaurant’s website crashed after tickets for an event featuring a Masterchef winner went on sale.
The Pig & Whistle in Beverley, East Yorkshire, has announced it is hosting a dinner party with Eddie Scott – who was crowned winner of Masterchef 2022.
Bistro management said the reservation system failed after tickets went on sale due to demand.
They are now appealing for diners to come tonight after a technical problem left them with no reservations, reports HulLive.
Staff were baffled by the restaurant’s silence throughout the week until they realized there was a technical error in the reservation system.
While Saturday night is sold out for a private dinner, tonight there are no reservations.
Writing to customers on Instagram, the Pig & Whistle said: “So basically since Eddie Scott’s dinner our website has been broken. We didn’t know that and just assumed there was too much traffic at the time.
“This allowed us to have zero reservations for Friday. You can access the site [but] it failed when booking [so] everyone thought we were full. We wondered why we were so quiet all week.
“Anyway, the penny has fallen and if you would like a table, please call the bistro. We have plenty of space.”
Eddie Scott, a Humber rider from Beverley, was announced as this year’s Masterchef champion last week.
He hopes to eventually open his own restaurant, which his legion of fans have been clamoring for.
The cook, who wowed the judges on the BBC show, is due to show off his favorite MasterChef dishes in a six-course tasting menu at Pig & Whistle in July.
On his win, Eddie, 31, said: “That’s it. I feel like my whole life has built up to this moment. I can’t believe I’m standing here as a MasterChef Champion.
“It’s been the most stressful and enjoyable! I feel like I’m discovering who I am as a cook. It’s the best feeling ever.”
Speaking about why he decided to become MasterChef, Eddie said: “I sat watching the show for years telling myself to apply. I wanted to get in front of John and Gregg to see what I could really do. To do.
“I think every home cook secretly dreams of having the chance to be on a show like MasterChef – to have that chance to totally change your life in what you love to do!”
The bistro said the website was back up and running but encouraged anyone in doubt to call it to book a table on 01482 874083.
