Several Phoenix-area shelters are waiving or reducing vacation pet adoption fees

PHOENIX — Several animal shelters in the Phoenix metro area are offering free or discounted adoptions for a limited time as part of the Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope event.

Both Arizona Humane Society locations — 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix and PetSmart at 4380 N. Miller Road in Scottsdale — are waiving adoption fees for dogs and cats Monday through Dec. 20.

AHS gives priority to people who schedule appointments in advance, but accepts walk-in visits if time permits.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is offering the same deal at both of its shelters, waiving adoption fees Monday through Dec. 20.

You can check out County Creatures online or in person at 2500 S. 27th Ave. in Phoenix or at 2630 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Mesa.

The Arizona Animal Welfare League will have free adoptions Tuesday through Dec. 12 for pets at least 1 year old at its main shelter, 25 N. 40th St. in Phoenix.

Heidi’s Village (600 N. 40th St., Phoenix) is using sponsorship from the Bissell Pet Foundation to bring adoption fees down to $25 Monday through Dec. 20.

More than 200 shelters in 40 states participate in the Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope event.
