Super Bowl commercial propels Pet Shop Boys to dance charts – Billboard

Pet Shop Boys related on Billboard‘s Dance / Electronic Digital Song Sales Chart (dated February 20) at # 5 with “Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money)”, after the Super Bowl premiere on February 6 of an Allstate insurance ad featuring featured the song. The 1986 classic sold 1,000 downloads, up 1,618%, in the week ending Feb. 11, according to MRC Data.

The song is the iconic British actor’s first top 10 and best career position on the roster, which began in 2010.

The duo Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe also return to the list at No. 23 with “West End Girls” (nearly 500 sold, up 109%). At a new high, PSB’s first Billboard Hot 100 No.1 in 1986 had already reached No.28 on the sales tally in 2011.

“Opportunities” – which also generated 106,000 streams, up 65%, in the follow-up week – is another of Pet Shop Boys’ top five Hot 100s, reaching No.10 as a follow-up of “West End Girls”. “Opportunities” reached third place on Dance Club Songs, among the 31 best 10 in acting career, most among duets or groups and fourth overall (after Madonna, at 64; Rihanna, 37; and Janet Jackson, 34).
