DETROIT – The latest “Empty the Shelters” event at the Detroit Animal Care shelter will have waived adoption and licensing fees for the coming week and a half.
In keeping with Mother’s Day this Sunday, the shelter will be waiving all adoption fees in the first half of May, as well as free flowers to anyone bringing home a new four-legged friend.
The BISSELL Foundation partnership is sponsoring the program through May 15 at more than 275 shelters across the United States
“We are thrilled to partner again with the BISSELL Pet Foundation as part of their spring ‘Empty the Shelters’ promotion which provides generous support to shelters across the country, including ours,” said Mark Kumpf, director. Detroit Animal Care. “Our partnership with BISSELL Pet Foundation allows us to waive adoption and licensing fees over a two-week period in May.”
Concerns about overcapacity add risk for pets that are highly adoptable but haven’t found homes, said BISSELL Foundation founder Cathy Bissell.
